And she danced on the petals that fell from the dogwood tree. Her smile turned toward the sky. How could anyone be so foolish as to not see the beauty that so simply enveloped them

One of the best flowering Dogwood trees is Cornus kousa ‘Chinensis’ Chinese Dogwood is a small – medium, extremely pretty, deciduous tree, native of Japan, Korea and parts of China. Their branches are covered in dense green foliage with white flowers bracts in late Spring and can grow 6 m tall, 4m wide and are spectacular as a feature tree for foliage as well as flowers.  In Summer foliage is dark green, in Autumn foliage turns a rich red.  Each flower appears as four petals in a showy yellow green. It grows in a well-rounded shape and is also great as a canopy tree.

Dogwoods are part of the Cornaceae family, and they are a hardy adaptable tree. Most dogwoods need winter cold to flower well and are at home in a climate with distinct seasons. Plant in a position in full sun or part-shade with fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil, and water well during the warmer months.

Once established dogwood trees are drought tolerant. In long dry and hot spells this tree will benefit from a weekly deep watering.
