Birchgrove Landscape Design Project

This stately harbourside terrace’s outdoor spaces are all about entertaining friends and family of the owners with expansive, comfortable furniture and shading options.  The theatre at play in this garden is around the juxtaposition of heritage with modern design elements.

At the front door you are greeted by a formal sandstone entranceway flanked by a pair of bright blue pots that highlight the flecks of blue in the patterned tiles underfoot and they are planted out with Caphalotaxus harringtonia and Rhipsalis.

Bold, mature olive trees were craned into place and pruned to a nice shape with the rest of the planting in large textured drifts that feel easy and restful to the eye. The bottom of the garden feature garden beds with curved edging for an organic feel. There are subtle level changes throughout the back garden down towards the water’s edge.  You can flow seamlessly from decking around the spa to the lovely lawn to a conversation pit in marine grade timber that is a great place to take in the vista of the jetty and harbour beyond.
