Black Kangaroo Paw
Macropidea Fuliginosa
Black flowering and foliage plants are incredibly stylish and intriguing and the Black Kangaroo Paw is no exception. The seductive and wonderful native Australian kangaroo paw has furry, sooty black buds that open to pale lime green flowers with blue pollen.
These plants are brilliantly used as borders or in interesting combinations with other plants within a garden, terrific in rockeries and water-wise gardens they are low maintenance and work brilliantly in containers too. Like all kangaroo paw, they respond well to regular watering but also need very good drainage. They need a lot of sun and warmth and grow best in low-humidity dry air regions.
While all species of kangaroo paws are worth growing for their beauty, the black and green flowers are extremely rare in Australian plants so the Macropidea is a most attractive addition to any native garden.
